Some Events in Oaxaca
There is nearly always some kind of event to see in Oaxaca, many are religious festivals others are celebrations of the diverse cultures that exist in Oaxaca, and others to promote Oaxaca produce and artisans, and some are just for fun. We have tried to include as many as we can below, and we endeavour to keep these as up to date as possible but some dates do get moved around every now and again and we may have missed a few, we are after all only human. If you know of an event in Oaxaca that we don’t have listed here let us know and we will get it online.

On the last Sunday of July, ‘Lunes del Cerro’ (Hill Monday), the Guelaguetza takes place in Oaxaca.

Among the events that take place in Oaxaca the largest is probably the Oaxacan Fil Festival better know as ‘Filmfest’which shows many local, national and international films, and promotes cinima in general.

November
The 1st and 2nd of November are important dates on the Oaxacan calendar as on these dates, ‘The day of the dead is celebrated’. The ‘Day of the Dead’ celebration sees people leaving small offerings on the graves of family and friends and the decoration of the graveyard with colourful yellow flowers and candles.
