Oaxaca Textile Museum (Museo Textile de Oaxaca) – Oaxaca City

The Oaxaca Textile Museum is a very worthwhile visit and just two blocks away from the zócalo. The textile museum is designed to show the processes and techniques that go into making the various different textiles in Oaxaca. The Oaxacan Textile Museum tries to educate people about these processes and techniques through exhibitions, workshops, and conferences. The building in which the Oaxacan Textile Museum is located has an interesting history itself as it was once part of Santo Domingo’s orchard. There were as one would imagine a few changes of hands over the years but in 2002 the property became the property of the Alfredo Harp Helu Foundation who also bought the former convent of San Pablo (now a cultural centre); and as of 2008 the building is now the Oaxacan Textile Museum.
