Huatulco Oaxaca
The main beaches in Oaxaca are located in three principal locations, Huatulco, Puerto Escondido and Puerto Ángel. All offer accommodation to suit a variety of budgets, children friendly beaches and a mix of national and international cuisine, there are however a few subtle yet fundamental differences between them. For example Huatulco tends to be family orientated, a little more expensive, and is home to the more luxurious hotels which have established themselves in Tangolunda Bay (Bahía Tangolunda, Oaxaca).

Puerto Escondido Oaxaca
Puerto Escondido is world famous for its surfing and is home to Zicatela Beach; as a consequence there tends to be more of a young party atmosphere which is notable at night when the main strip known as the “Adoquin” comes to life. There is also a notable surf culture in Puerto Escondido which is probably why it is so popular with surfers and backpackers alike. Puerto Escondido is definitely fun but be sure to pack some alka seltzer!

Puerto Ángel Oaxaca
Puerto Ángel is slightly different again, its beaches have a very laid back atmosphere perfect for people of all ages who just want to get away from it all and kick back and relax. Puerto Ángel is home to the Mexican Turtle Center (Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga) in Mazunte, a crockodile reserve on La ventana beach , the tranquil waters of San Agustinillo, and the famous village of Zipolite which boast a cosmopolitan, almost hippy atmosphere. Puerto Ángel is also home to the only nudist beach in Oaxaca.
