Ixtlán de Júarez is a médium sized town in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca that is dedicated to forestry and agriculture and is home to Ecoturixtlán, an adventure tourism park which focuses on ecotourism and sustainability. Ecoturixtlán is home to a large cave that traverses a mountain and it is possible to walk through it from one side to the other. Ecoturixtlán has a very long death slide (zip line) for the brave and offers Accommodation in the form of cabañas (log cabins) and camping; Ecoturixtlán also offers guided hikes, mountain biking, and driven tours of the area where you can see lots of the diverse flora and fauna that the cloud forest has to offer. There is also the Mesofilo waterfall that you can visit, an aerial assault course, climbing and abseiling (rappelling) and a temazcal.

To get to Ixtlán from Oaxaca City turn left at the hang a left at the Benito Júarez monument (Monumento), and continue straight on for about an hour and fortyfive minutes. To get to Ecoturixtlán pass through Ixtlán de Júarez and Ecoturixtlán is about 10 minutes down the road on the left. If you don’t have a car consider taking a tour or take a bus from the Central de Abastos in Oaxaca City or take a colectivo from the Monumento.
