San José del Pacífico – Sierra Sur, Oaxaca
The village of San José del Pacífico in the Sierra Sur is a popular destination for tourists who tend to stop here for a few days when going to or coming back from the beach. San José del Pacífico is a great place to go for a stroll around the Woods and guides are available should you require one, and it is also possible to take a quad bike tour from one of the cabañas. San José del Pacífico is also famous for its wild mushrooms (particularly of the magic variety) and should you wish you can find them here. There are several restaurants and cabañas and there is also a café and an internet café as well as a few shops. Probably what is most spectacular about San José del Pacífico is how the mist rolls in and up the mountain in the afternoon at around 3 to 4 o’clock
To get to of San José del Pacífico take the motorway towards Puerto Escondido and keep driving for about two and a half hours. If you don’t have a car you can get there by taking a surburban (Minibus) towards Puerto Escondido and get out before you get to the beach.
