El Estudiante y La Azucena Reservoir – Oaxaca
These 2 reservoirs are used for irrigation and are popular because of their proximity to the City of Oaxaca and the beautiful scenery. The El Estudiante reservoir, the Sierra Juarez Forest, and the Valley of Oaxaca make this a tranquil area a perfect location for relaxing and enjoying a picnic.
Swimming is not allowed due to the dangerous slopes and muddy areas which have previously resulted in accidents.
Refreshments are available in local restaurants and local boats can provide sightseeing tours. The reservoir is located in San Andreas Huayapan approximately 6 miles North East of Oaxaca City.
