Ocotlán Market – Ocotlán de Morelos, Oaxaca
Ocotlán’s market day (Día de plaza) is Friday when the market comes a relative beehive of activity. If you are planning a slow drive to the beach, why not call in for breakfast first and have a leisurely peruse of Ocotlán’s market? Perhaps even throw in an overnight stop in the Sierra Sur before descending down through Pochutla? The new ‘Superhighway’ now bypasses Ocotlán, but if you aren’t in a hurry pop into the market you won’t regret it. Ocotlán market is an array of colours, tastes and smells that barrage the senses. At the market you will find an abudance of flowers, more delicious food than you can choose between, and stall after stall of fresh fruit and vegetables. You will also see traditional apparel, hand-crafted artisan knives and very possibly a few live animals for sale. Why not pay Ocotlán market a visit, enjoy a traditional ice cream and see what you think?
