Santa Cruz Bay – Huatulco, Oaxaca
Santa Cruz Bay is a very popular bay, it is home to Huatulco’s harbour, it has many condominiums and private properties for rent or sale. Santa Cruz Bay also has some of the most popular beaches in Huatulco, the most notable being La Entrega and Santa Cruz because of the mild waves, the relative ease of access, and the services available on these beaches. Santa Cruz also has several restaurants and hotels and a few nightclubs too, and isn’t very far at all from La Cruzecita. Also most of the boat tour of the beaches leave from Santa Cruz beach or harbour, also here is where you can take small fishing boats (lanchas) to visit some of the more remote beaches that are not easily accessible by land.

Santa Cruz Beach
Santa Cruz beach is an incredibly popular beach and it is often quite full even in low season; there is of course a reason for this, the waves are essentially none existent, Santa Cruz beach is probably the calmest piece of sea on the Oaxacan coast. Santa Cruz beach is also easily accessible, it’s close to La Cruzacita, all major tours and cruises go from there. It also has restaurant and watersports facilities. It is however a small beach favoured by families and does get a bit crowded.
La Entrega Beach
La Entrega beach is another very popular beach in Santa Cruz Bay; it is a reasonably sized beach with easy access by road or sea. La Entrega has many beachfront restaurants with shade and bathroom facilities and there are also places to rent snorkel equipment, and some public showers, there is also some natural shade available under the trees at the back of the beach. La Entrega is ideal for diving and snorkling and it’s possible to see many species of fish mere meters from the shore. The waves at La Entrega are gentle which makes it a popular choice with families and those who aren’t strong swimmers. La Entrega (The Delivery) is so called because; it is on La Entrega beach in 1831 that the then president of Mexico Vincente Guerrero was betrayed, and was subsequently executed in Cuilapam de Guerrero a short time afterwards.
Yerbabuena Beach
Yerbabuena Beach (Mint beach) is an attractive small beach between La Entrega and Santa Cruz beeches. Yerbabuena Beach has small gentle waves and soft sand which made it popular with families; unfortunately however it’s now being used by the Mexican Military and is not now open to the general public.
